Впечатления о пребывании в ДонНАСА шотландского студента Фрейзера Кейта (Fraser Keith, University of Strathclyde, Шотландия), 2010

I came to the Academy as part of the IAESTE program (www.iaeste.org.ua). I study Civil Engineering in Scotland and my specialisation is Steel Construction. In the Academy I work on a project involving the steel frame which is part of a glass furnace. The Academy here is very different to my University in Scotland, it is nice to see students and staff working together gaining good practical experience refurbishing the buildings. I was impressed by the amount of work that was being done during the summer before classes. It is also interesting to travel around Ukraine and see how different it is from my own country, I have been to the Black Sea in the Crimea which was beautiful. Donetsk is a city different from anyone in Scotland, the streets are wide, there is plenty of tree’s and flowers and the architecture is typical of Eastern European style which can not be found where I am from. The Donbas Arena is a notable landmark in the city, it looks modern and inside it is grand and spacious. It is very interesting for me to meet people here and I have made a lot of friends who have helped give me memories that I will remember for the rest of my life. I have not had time to see everything I wanted to in Donetsk and in Ukraine, but this means one day I will come back!

Я приехал в Академию по программе IAESTE (www.iaeste.org.ua). В Шотландии я изучаю гражданское строительство, моя специальность «Металлоконструкции». В Академии я работаю над проектом, включающим в себя стальной каркас, который является частью стекловаренной печи. Академия очень отличается от моего университета в Шотландии, приятно увидеть студентов и преподавателей, работающих вместе для получения хорошего практического опыта в модернизации зданий. Я был впечатлен количеством работы, которая была проделана в течение лета перед занятиями. Также интересно было путешествовать по Украине и видеть, насколько она отличается от моей страны. Я был на Черном море в Крыму, оно очень красивое. Донецк намного отличается от любого другого города в Шотландии, улицы широкие, много деревьев и цветов. Архитектуры в восточно-европейском стиле в моей стране нет. «Донбасс Арена» выглядит современно, а внутри она роскошная и просторная. Мне интересно знакомиться здесь с людьми, я нашел много друзей и буду помнить о них до конца жизни. У меня не было времени увидеть всё в Донецке и Украине, а это означает, что однажды я сюда вернусь!
